Description
The Titan Titanium Axle System is a premium mechanical upgrade over OEM axles, developed with a selective approach to weight reduction, stiffness, and long-term durability. Depending on the axle position, material choice was optimized for its specific mechanical role rather than absolute weight savings alone.
The rear axle and swingarm axle are manufactured from aerospace-grade titanium and provide a measurable reduction in unsprung mass compared to OEM steel components, improving suspension response, wheel control, and traction.
The front axle is CNC-machined from solid aerospace-grade titanium. While slightly heavier than the OEM aluminum axle, it offers significantly higher stiffness, strength, and fatigue resistance. This improves front-end precision, braking stability, and dimensional consistency under high loads.
All axles are CNC-machined from solid billet and finished with tight tolerances to ensure predictable fitment and clamping behavior.
Key benefits
-
Targeted unsprung mass reduction
Weight savings where it improves suspension performance, stiffness where precision matters most. -
Increased front-end stiffness
Solid titanium front axle improves steering accuracy and braking stability compared to aluminum. -
Aerospace-grade titanium construction
High strength-to-weight ratio, excellent fatigue resistance, and corrosion resistance. -
Micro Arc Oxidation (MAO) surface treatment
Functional ceramic-like surface for wear resistance and long-term stability. -
Optimized interface behavior
Reduced friction, galling, and fretting at bearing and spacer interfaces. -
Built for harsh conditions
Reliable performance in mud, water crossings, and extreme environments.
MAO vs Anodizing ā Whatās the Difference?
Anodizing
Anodizing creates a thin oxide layer that improves corrosion resistance and appearance but remains relatively soft and can wear through under high contact pressure and repeated assembly.
Micro Arc Oxidation (MAO)
MAO is a plasma-assisted process that converts the surface of the titanium into a thick, ceramic-like oxide layer. It is significantly harder, more wear-resistant, and far more stable under load, torque cycles, and thermal stress.
The micro-porous structure of the MAO layer helps retain lubrication, reducing friction and minimizing fretting during operation and repeated wheel removal. MAO is a functional surface treatment designed for mechanical performance, not aesthetics.
Designed with intent
The Titan Titanium Axle System was not developed to chase minimum weight numbers, but to improve real-world performance and reliability. Weight reduction is applied where it delivers measurable benefits, while stiffness and durability are increased where precision and safety matter most.
Compatible with PR7 Standard and PR7 Gold Edition models.
